"There are these two young fish swimming along, and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says: "Morning boys, how's the water?" And the two young fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes, "What the hell is water?" - David Foster Wallace.

The obvious can be sometimes the hardest to notice, but it can be of vital importance.
Artists help us be more aware of our surroundings by inviting us to look at life from a different perspective.

David Foster Wallace concludes by stating that "this is about simple awareness - awareness of what is so real and essential, so hidden in plain sight all around us, all the time, that we have to keep reminding ourselves over and over: This is water, this is water."

At ikonoTV we appreciate art and by surrounding ourselves with art, we are able to feel the meaning.
With this months focus on water, renowned artists Ange Leccia, Antti Laitinen, Enrique Ramirez, Ursula Biemann and Lars Jan among others will show us their unique interpretations the theme.
On August 15th we will broadcast a 24H special with the spotlight on video artists.

*We would like to remind Artists that our Open Call for the second edition of Art Speaks Out is running until August 15th. Art Speaks Out is a program showing only contemporary video artworks on environmental issues during the COP22 in Morocco.

Enjoy a wonderful summer and our free 24/7 streaming of art on ikonoTV.
