LEARN FROM MASTERS
“气韵非师” translated into LEARN FROM MASTERS or “Spirit-resonance cannot be mastered by learning” aims to explore the spiritual dimension of ink painting, being an inspiration for contemporary artists. It consists in a series of six films about Chinese ink masteres from the past: Gu Kaizhi, Fan Kuan, Ni Zan, Zhu Da, Wu Changshuo, and contemporary Pan Gongkai. Ink art is not merely calligraphy, but a two-thousand years painting tradition, "an unbelievably subtle, complex, rich and profound cultural system, which extends into today still with infinite vitality and possibility"
LEARN FROM MASTERS has been a Collateral Event of the International Art Exhibition, 56th Biennale di Venezia
